Background

Suzette is a product of Columbia Public Schools. She attended Shephard Boulevard Elementary, Jeff Junior High and Rock Bridge High School in Columbia. She has two children, a 2021 Hickman graduate and a current Hickman sophomore, who previously attended West Middle and Grant Elementary schools.

Education
Suzette Waters prepares for patients at the dental office where she has worked part-time as a registered dental hygienist since 1999.

Suzette is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a bachelor of science degree in dental hygiene. She works part-time as a registered dental hygienist in Columbia. She plans to draw upon her health sciences background to advocate for the health and wellbeing of all students at Columbia Public Schools.

Suzette has been an active volunteer in her kids’ classrooms and at their schools. Her work has included tutoring at-risk kids and advocating for courses for high achievers of all backgrounds at the middle-school level. She has served in many roles in each schools’ parent organization, most recently as treasurer of the Hickman PTSA.


Platform
  • Teachers are education professionals and must be supported as such.
  • All students should be allowed and encouraged to reach their potential.
  • Open communication between the school district, the board and the community is part of a healthy relationship.
Purpose

A quality education means stretching each student to reach beyond what they are doing to find out what they can do.
