Background
Suzette is a product of Columbia Public Schools. She attended Shephard Boulevard Elementary, Jeff Junior High and Rock Bridge High School. She has two children who graduated from Hickman, in 2021 and 2024, after attending West Middle School and Grant Elementary. She and her husband, Andy, have been married for 25 years.
Education
Suzette is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a bachelor of science degree in dental hygiene. She works part-time as a registered dental hygienist at a dental office in Columbia. She has drawn upon her health sciences background to advocate for the health and wellbeing of all students at Columbia Public Schools.
Experience
As a board member, Suzette has been a persistent advocate for public education. From meeting with legislators to speaking at community events, her focus is always on supporting public schools as critical infrastructure. She has been a regular face at local schools, showing up for events and being in the classroom to interact with students.
Platform
- Public school is the most important part of the infrastructure of our society
- All students should be allowed and encouraged to reach their potential. Teachers are instrumental in making that happen
- Open communication between the school district, the board and the community is part of a healthy relationship.
Purpose
Educating all children is the most important work we do. Public school is the system that gets that done.
